Do you wish to put your artistic skills to practical use? Perhaps you wish to learn a new craft but don’t know where to start - If so then this is the course for you. The two day mosaic making course is held at a purpose built studio in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex and is hosted by artist Paul Siggins and his wife Fiona. Under Paul’s experienced, friendly guidance you will learn new skills and mosaic cutting techniques as you develop and complete a wonderful mosaic work to take home with you.

The course begins on each day at 10:00am and finishes at 5:30pm with a break for lunch. Throughout the course you will;

• Learn to use mosaic tile nippers, scribers and pliers to different effect
• Explore a range of mosaic materials including glass, porcelain and ceramic
• Apply a range of cutting & nipping techniques to different materials
• Discuss design alternatives – in a group and individually
• Create and develop your chosen design
• Choose and apply the direct or indirect methods of fixing mosaic
• Learn to mix and to apply adhesive and grout
• And you will leave the proud owner of a mosaic work you have produced under the guidance of an established mosaic artist!

Your experience includes the supply of mosaic materials, a pre-cut board to design and produce a small table top, plaque or wall hanging and use of tools throughout the weekend. Refreshments (including Tea & Coffee, Water & Juice) will be served throughout. On leaving, you will also be provided with information about grouts, adhesives and suppliers of mosaic materials to help inspire and inform you for future projects. For those keen to develop their new skills, a range of materials and tools are available for purchase.

Notes

On purchasing this experience you will be sent a voucher valid for ten months for one person. Courses are held on one weekend per month throughout the year. Overnight accommodation is not included. There will be a maximum of 7 other participants on the course with you. This experience is suitable for participants aged 14 years and over. No previous experience is necessary. Refreshments will be served throughout both days. Lunch is not included in the package, but may be booked for a small additional charge. Alternatively, you may bring your own packed lunch with you. All courses are subject to availability.
