Always wanted to experience the magic of sailing? This is the experience for you! Your skipper will introduce you to all grounding concepts and then you will get to sail for the rest of the morning. You'll take turns at the helm with the other participants and experience a part of what being a crew member is like. This is a great way to enjoy this wonderful and alluring sport, on the safe waters of the Stour and Orwell Rivers.

Your experience begins with coffee and a safety briefing - then your RYA Yachtsmaster skipper will introduce you to the basics of sailing. After that, it's hands-on sailing for the rest of the morning with everyone taking turns behind the wheel, steering the boat out into the Stour and Orwell Rivers, and Harwich Harbour. You will be able to carry on improving your sailing skills, or just sit back and relax in the well-protected cockpit. All refreshments afloat are included. The experience lasts from 10:00am to approximately 1:00pm.
Notes
Upon purchasing this experience, you will be issued with a voucher valid for ten months, for one person. You are free to contact the centre to arrange a day for your experience. This experience is available selected days during the season (1st April - 31st October) and all bookings are subject to availability. Sailing may be cancelled or curtailed in severe weather conditions. If in any doubt please call the centre before departing for your experience. There will be a maximum of seven people on board plus the skipper. Spectators are welcome to wave you off from the Marina, but will not be able to join you on board. Please dress warmly and comfortably with extra layers. All safety equipment is provided for you. Minimum age is 16, maximum weight 20 Stone. No previous sailing experience is required and non-swimmers are welcome.
