The package includes a full day of instruction and will cover essential elements of the sport such as handling the rod, choosing and assembling tackle, casting, as well as the art of fly fishing itself. You should arrive at the lakeside venue at around 10 am. You will receive an introductory briefing from your instructor over coffee. You will learn all about the equipment and the relevant safety issues. Then you will receive casting instruction before heading to the water. A light lunch is provided at around 1pm and will be taken outside if the weather permits. The afternoon is spent flyfishing from (at the Rutland Water location this will be from a motorboat). The day ends at 5 pm. Please note that the itinerary may vary slightly depending on weather and water conditions, but the operator will always endeavour to give the best possible experience.

Notes

On purchasing this experience you will be issued with a voucher valid for ten months, for one person. Please note that there will be between one and three other people on this experience with you. This voucher is valid for Mondays to Fridays, subject to availability. You are then free to book a day for your experience. This experience includes tackle, tuition, permits, licences and lunch, so you won’t have any additional expenses. If you have any medical problem or disability which may affect your experience, please inform the operator when you make your booking. Minimum age for this experience is 12 years at Rutland Water, and 18 at Powys. Participants must observe the safety guidelines as laid down by the instructors. You should dress appropriately for outdoors activity and take comfortable footwear such as trainers or waterproof boots if you have them. It is also advisable to take a hat, sunglasses, sunblock, a waterproof jacket, and a spare set of clothes in case you get wet!
